HEARING AIDS IN TINNITUS RETRAINING THERAPY
We often use hearing aids as an adjunct in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy. Sometimes noise generators are used and sometimes environmental sounds alone are sufficient to help with the sound therapy. Noise generators may be used in both tinnitus and hyperacusis therapy. These instruments produce a low-level white noise and can be worn in the ear or behind the ear with a soft open mold. They do not mask the tinnitus signal but help you to not hear the tinnitus sound.
